FAQs
Are you a direct provider through UA/PEP?
We are not, but we do provide detailed invoices, and our members are routinely successfully reimbursed. We are considering applying to become an approved provider on MSS for the 2026-2027 school year.
Do you provide any materials to work on at home?
Primary students complete all their work on Community Day. Secondary students are asked to do light homework, such as reading, recitation practice, and presentation preparations. All ages are provided with optional reading lists that supplement the material they are learning in class.
Am I expected to purchase the curriculum to participate?
No, all material is included in your program fees.
Do you provide a pre-K program or a nursery?
For a fee, the Saltwater Collective provides a nursery and pre-K program for siblings of enrolled primary and/or secondary students. We are not a stand-alone pre-K or nursery program.
Do you offer high school classes?
Our most senior students are in our secondary program: lower secondary (6th and 7th grades) and upper secondary (8th and 9th grades). We do not offer any programs after the 9th grade.
How much work will I have to do as a parent?
The Saltwater Collective Homeschooling Community is a true co-operative effort. No one is paid for their time and efforts, including our board members. All parents are expected to fulfill an active role in making our community successful. Upon admission, you will be assigned a role for the coming year. We do our best to assign teaching roles to experienced families; however, you will likely be asked to co-teach at some point during your time with our community.
Is this a drop-off program?
No. All students must have a parent or legal guardian with a current background check on campus with them at all times.
